SRC and Community Service Club are organising a Kampung Angkat Project involving a survey(May 21st), health screening(July 10th) and donation drive. We are in need of about 10 more volunteers for the survey part and possibly donation drive. The details are all on the SRC blog at imusrc.blogspot.com so could you please inform your respective batches of this and tell them to check out the blog if they are interested. I understand some of you are on study break right now so maybe you can post on your Facebook pages or something? These 10 spots will be filled on first come first serve basis so please do inform them ASAP.

Hi everybody, I'm Alicia from CrusAIDSers. As a club, we are dedicated to raising awareness about HIV and AIDS as well as to reducing the stigma that stems from a lack of understanding of the disease.
In partnership with other universities and organizations dedicated to the same cause, we will be organizing an event called 'It Begins With You'.

It will be one of the biggest AIDS awareness campaign of the year so we request your help as volunteers. The volunteers will be helping to man the booth, get signatures on sandwich boards and participate in the flash mob! Each of the volunteers will receive a t-shirt as thanks for participating, and there will be fun and games and food and performances that everyone can enjoy. Tentatively we might have one practice for the flash mob but we will soon post a video of the dance up so you can learn it yourself in the comfort of your own home!

We are pleased to announce the following:

1) Foodprint :

Commencing April 2011, Foodprint will now operate for 4 days ie Tuesday to Friday. Pls continue to provide your support to encourage them to stay and extend sales to 5 days a week.

2) Impian Rasa:

Impian Rasa will be leaving IMU as the main operator on 30 April 2011. Their last operation day is set on Friday, 29 April 2011. They will serve lunch till 2pm. Thereafter they will be clearing/cleaning the premise for handover.

3) Oval Success Sdn Bhd:

We are pleased to confirm that Oval Success has been awarded the contract and will replace Impian Rasa as main operator. They will commence their operation on Tuesday, 3 May 2011. Currently they are operating café/canteen at UMMC, DBKL and Hostels/Schools canteen. They will operate from 7am to 10.30pm, Monday to Friday and Saturday from 8am to 10pm only.

Go Green Campaign

Go Green Campaign will be held from 14th to 18th March 2011.

1) During this week, there will be a surcharge of 30cents for use of plastic bags or styrofoam boxes.

2) There is also a lucky draw, details are as follow: (perhaps it will be easier for you to tell them there is lucky draw and wait for them to look out for the details)
...
Students are strongly encouraged to bring their own container. For students who didn't use plastic bag from 14th -17th March 2011, they are entitled to a stamp. Collect 3 stamps and they are entitled to a lucky draw entry. There's no limit to lucky draw entry. Lucky draw will be held on 18th March 2011, from 11am to 12pm.

3) There is photography competition.

4) There is interbatch recyclables collection competition.

5) There will be talks held by WWF and various other NGOs.

Student Power Lecture IMU

Fahmi Reza (director of the documentary 10 Years Before Independence), will unveil the true story of the rise time of the struggle of students in the era '60an through public lectures. The lecture will be delivered through multimedia presentation, by using images, photos, videos, newspaper articles, archival material and interviews to IMU students.




Venue: International Medical University. Lecture Theatre 2 (3rd floor)
IMU is located right beside Sri Petaling LRT station.

Announcements!

A few important announcements!

1. There will be a welcoming gathering and movie sharing by the Buddhist Association. The venue will be in LT2 at 7pm, Friday night. do come! :)

2. Anyone interested in learning the Guzi or Erhu, come find me. There will be lessons every Thursday, from 7 - 8. The monthly fees will be RM50 to RM55.

3. Batchmates! Please contact your senior mentors ASAP! It's important.

4. There will be a Secret Valentine Carnival on 14th February and they need volunteers to help out. However, if you want to perform, you are more than welcome to do so. :) *Anyone knows how to read Tarot Cards or knows how to make a heart shape out from balloons, do come forward. thanks :)

5. 5 student exchange program students from Uni of Strathclyde will be coming here in July for one month. Currently there are 4 seniors, and junior volunteers are encouraged to help out. Our job is to be the host. Bring them around town, entertain them and all. It will be a nice experience!
